The Research Group Social Justice and Diversity in the Arts aims to promote social justice and diversity through art, architecture, and heritage. Adopting an interdisciplinary approach, it collaborates with various research groups and academies within the AHK, including the Academy of Architecture, Reinwardt Academy, Conservatory of Amsterdam, Netherlands Film Academy, and the Academy for Theatre and Dance. Moreover, the research group seeks partnerships with external organizations, such as cultural institutions and government bodies, to integrate its research into societal contexts.

To navigate complexity at various scales and engage with diverse perspectives on social issues, the group employs cartographic methods, including participatory mapping, deep mapping and gigamapping.
